FAQ

fREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

hours

WHAT ARE THE HOURS OF OPERATIONS AT NARI?

Nari is open for dinner service seven nights a week. On Sundays, Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays we are open 5:30-9pm. On Fridays and Saturdays we are open 5:30 to 9:30pm. While we recommend reservations in the restaurant, our mezzanine bar + lounge is walk in only and serves our full a la carte menu until 9pm on Sunday, Wednesday and Thursday and 9:15 on Friday and Saturday, with last call for cocktails at 9:45pm.

cancellations

WHAT is the cancellation policy at nari?

For parties of 1-5 guests we require 24 hours notice to avoid a $20 per person cancellation fee. For Parties of 6 or more, we require 7 days notice to avoid a $125 per person cancellation fee.

lounge + mezzanine dining

what is served in the lounge and mezzanine?

We serve a more limited menu in the lounge + mezzanine. Certain a la carte items and the chef’s pick menu are not served outside of the main dining room.

covid-19

What is Nari’s Covid policy?

We follow the current San Francisco city Covid mandates and guidelines. While mandates have been lifted and it is no longer required at Nari, we do appreciate guests who come in fully vaccinated in order to help protect our team. At this time we are not providing birthday candles for desserts to minimize unnecessarily forceful exhalations.

parking

HOW MUCH TIME SHOULD I ALLOT FOR PARKING PRIOR TO MY RESERVATION?

Japantown is a bustling and busy neighborhood and parking can be quite a challenge! We recommend arriving at least fifteen minutes prior to your reservation to secure a space. If street parking is proving unfruitful, there is a garage conveniently just down the block on Post St. below the Japantown center accessible from Webster or Geary street.

punctuality

HOW MUCH TIME SHOULD I ALLOT FOR MY MEAL?

Due to limited capacity and hours of operation, tables of 2-3 guests are reserved for 1.5 hours, tables of 4-5 guests are reserved for 2 hours and large parties of 6-12 in our semi-private wine room are reserved for 2.5 hours. Please note we are only able to hold your table for 15 minutes past your reservation time, so we greatly appreciate your punctuality! We try to keep this fair for everyone and will do our best to get you seated if you are running late, but we kindly request as much advance notice possible.

corkage

WHAT IS NARI'S CORKAGE POLICY?

We are happy to open personal bottles of wine, however we ask that the table does not bring more than two 750ml personal bottles. For the first 750ml bottle, corkage is $50. For the second, $75. If you purchase a bottle from the Nari wine list, we waive one corkage. We politely decline to open any personal bottles that are currently listed on the Nari wine list.

children

IS NARI AN APPROPRIATE ENVIRONMENT FOR CHILDREN?

We welcome well behaved little ones in the restaurant, but please keep in mind that our cuisine is rich in spice and not suited to most children’s preferences; unfortunately the nature of our kitchen does not lend itself to off menu kid-friendly options. If your child has a particularly sophisticated palate and is comfortable in a fine dining setting, by all means, please bring them in. We simply request that you let us know in advance that there will be children in your party so we may seat you appropriately and acknowledge that we do not have any high chairs to provide. We have a limited number of tables with the appropriate proximate space in which to place a stroller, so please do let us know if you will be bringing such an item, as we may not be able to accommodate your party without advanced notice. If your child experiences a spell of heightened emotion that might be acoustically distracting to other diners, please step into the hotel lobby or outside to soothe them until they are ready to return to your table. We appreciate junior diners may need iphone games to keep them entertained, but any gaming system or alternate electronic must be enjoyed with either headphones or with the volume turned off. Thank you for understanding.

allergies

CAN NARI ACCOMMODATE ALLERGIES + DIETARY RESTRICTIONS?

We want everyone to be able to enjoy our cuisine and we do our absolute best to accommodate most allergies and restrictions, but the safety of our guests is our ultimate priority. There are a few allergies we cannot accommodate— any allium allergies, rice oil allergies, chili allergies or severe shellfish, celiac, or peanut allergies serious enough that they might be triggered by trace environmental cross-contamination are outside of our wheelhouse as these ingredients are processed frequently and in large quantities in our kitchen. We also cannot forgo palm sugar in our cuisine. We ask that you alert us of any and all dietary restrictions in your party regardless of the severity. If a group arrives with unconfirmed allergies, we may not be able to accommodate appropriately.

chef’s pick

WHAT OPTIONS ARE AVAILABLE FOR THE CHEF’S PICK MENU?

We unfortunately cannot accommodate any dietary restrictions on our Chef’s Pick menu at this time, which requires full participation from the table and is served family style. We hope to bring back a vegetarian and vegan version in the future!

laptops & tablets

Does Nari allow laptops or tablets?

At Nari, we believe that sharing a meal is an avenue for human connection and a way to recenter ourselves in a fast paced, digitally driven world. In the sprit of this philosophy, we kindly ask that guest refrain from using laptops and tablets in the dining room.

service animals

Assistance animals at Nari

We enthusiastically comply with all federal and California laws regarding service animals. Task performing service dogs (and mini horses!) specifically trained to provide assistance to a person with a disability are always happily accommodated, as is required by both the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and California state law, so long as they do not display any dangerous or disruptive behavior. If your service animal is on the larger end of the spectrum, we appreciate a heads up if possible so we can plan to seat you at a table where your service companion will be comfortably able to be at your side and safe from foot traffic.

Please note that pets with emotional support animal letters are a separate classification from service animals, require no training, and are not protected in public spaces under either federal or state law; we kindly ask that guests leave their emotional support animals at home. Handlers of psychiatric service dogs who undergo task training to assist them need not worry— we understand the difference between a psychiatric service animal and an emotional support animal and are delighted to welcome you and you service animal in!
